Faculty members for the Collegium and Practicum sessions will be dragooned (VOLUNTEERS WELCOME!), and will be added to the session descriptions as they sign their lives away.

Each of the sessions (with the exception of the practicums) will be a forum or roundtable rather than a panel discussion. The opinions and observations of the "audience" will be welcome throughout the Collegium.

Collegium Curriculum

The Known World Bardic Collegium is a series of panel discussions and roundtables on topics of interest to the bards of the Known World. Each session will begin and end with a bit of time for schmoozing.

The following topics and day-assignments are subject to change, and the actual discussion on any day may well take its own course based on the interests of the session leaders and the attendees. Although the titles are sometimes whimsical, the topics are serious.

All sessions are from 3-5pm. Note that this year sessions will begin on Middle Sunday, then we'll take Monday off to go to the Bardic Exposition, and return to daily sessions, Tuesday through Friday.

Sunday, August 2, 3-5pm. Welcome Home

Finally returned from the town run and ready to get back into the swing of all things bardic? This meeting of the Collegium is for all bards and those who want to be bards - storytellers, singers, poets, all! Come to see who is here this year, meet new people, and renew old friendships, maybe even find a mentor for this war.

Tuesday, August 4, 3-5pm. Comedy in the Bardic Arts

There is a special talent to sharing the humour in our hobby. Join us in the Collegium to discuss ways to find the funny in events and weave it into story, song, or poem, or to take a serious piece and deliver it to bring out the humour hiding inside.

Wednesday, August 5, 3-5pm. Feedback: Getting It and Giving It

One of the greatest challenges to growing as a performer is getting feedback to help you learn where and how to improve. Join us in the Collegium today to discuss the finer points and perils of critique: how to offer it and request it in a good way, so that we all benefit from the experience.

Thursday, August 6, 3-5pm. Sources of Inspiration

Have you heard a great song that inspires you to write another? Saw or heard something amazing and want to write about it? Written a song and discovered that your great tune was actually someone else's? Me too! Come to the Collegium today...let's talk.

Thursday, August 7, 3-5pm. Sharing Your Muse

Back due to popular demand: Are you working on a piece that just won't go anywhere? Need an idea to connect your beginning and end? Or maybe a great ending? Bards of all levels of experience - come share your muse with others - just because she won't co-operate with you today doesn't mean she's left show biz! (She may need a change of pace, too!)
